Acceptable Use Policy

Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for using the eSolicitors platform, website, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). This policy applies to all users, including solicitors, clients, and visitors.

By using the Platform, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violation of this policy may result in suspension or termination of your account.

General Principles

All users of the Platform must:

  • Act honestly and in good faith
  • Respect other users and their rights
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Use the Platform only for its intended purposes
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Platform

Prohibited Conduct

1. Illegal Activities

You must not use the Platform to:

  • Engage in or promote any illegal activity
  • Facilitate money laundering or terrorist financing
  • Evade taxes or engage in financial crimes
  • Violate intellectual property rights
  • Distribute illegal content

2. Fraudulent Behaviour

You must not:

  • Provide false or misleading information
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Create fake accounts or profiles
  • Manipulate reviews or ratings
  • Engage in any form of fraud or deception

3. Harmful Content

You must not post, upload, or share content that:

  • Is defamatory, libellous, or slanderous
  • Is obscene, offensive, or discriminatory
  • Promotes violence or hatred
  • Harasses, bullies, or intimidates others
  • Infringes on privacy rights

4. Security Violations

You must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts or systems
  • Use automated tools to scrape or collect data
  • Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Interfere with the Platform's operation or security
  • Bypass security measures or access controls

5. Commercial Misuse

You must not:

  • Use the Platform for unauthorised commercial purposes
  • Send spam or unsolicited communications
  • Advertise or promote services outside the Platform's scope
  • Engage in pyramid schemes or similar activities

Solicitor-Specific Rules

Solicitors using the Platform must additionally:

Professional Standards

  • Maintain valid SRA authorisation at all times
  • Comply with the SRA Code of Conduct
  • Maintain adequate Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Keep professional qualifications current

Client Interactions

  • Respond to client enquiries promptly and professionally
  • Provide accurate information about services and fees
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest

Platform Integrity

  • Not circumvent Platform fees by taking relationships off-platform
  • Not artificially inflate ratings or reviews
  • Provide accurate availability information
  • Honour quotes and commitments made through the Platform

Client-Specific Rules

Clients using the Platform must additionally:

Good Faith Dealings

  • Provide accurate information about legal needs
  • Respond to solicitor communications reasonably
  • Pay for services as agreed
  • Not make false or malicious complaints

Verification Requirements

  • Complete identity verification when required
  • Provide accurate source of funds information
  • Comply with AML/KYC requirements

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, please report it to us:

We take all reports seriously and investigate them promptly. You will not be penalised for making a good faith report.

Enforcement

Investigation Process

When we receive a report or detect a potential violation, we may:

  1. Review the relevant account activity
  2. Request information from the parties involved
  3. Temporarily suspend access while investigating
  4. Consult with legal or regulatory advisors

Consequences of Violation

Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, we may:

Appeals

If you believe we have taken action against you in error, you may appeal by:

  2. Providing relevant information to support your case
  3. Awaiting our review (typically within 10 business days)

Regulatory Reporting

We may report serious violations to relevant regulatory bodies, including:

  • Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
  • Bar Standards Board (BSB)
  • Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
  • Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
  • Law enforcement agencies

Updates to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through:

  • Email notification to registered users
  • Prominent notice on the Platform
  • Updated "Effective Date" on this page

Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
