Booking a Consultation
The £15 AI Scoping Consultation is the core service on eSolicitors. It is a structured 30-minute video call that results in a detailed AI-generated scope report for your legal matter.
What the Consultation Is
The consultation is NOT a casual introductory call. It is a structured session designed to gather all the information needed to produce a scope of work for your legal matter.
Your lawyer has an AI Assist panel running during the call that:
- Suggests questions to ensure all relevant details are captured
- Tracks scope completeness in real time
- Identifies key facts from the conversation
This means the consultation is focused and productive - not exploratory.
Before You Book
You need:
- An eSolicitors account (free to create)
- A valid payment card (Stripe processes the £15 fee)
- A web browser with camera and microphone access
- A quiet, private location for the call
You do NOT need to:
- Download any software
- Prepare a detailed brief (the consultation captures this)
- Know exactly what legal issue you have (your lawyer will help identify it)
Finding an Available Slot
From a lawyer's profile, click Book a Consultation.
You will see a calendar showing the lawyer's available days (with green dots). Select a date, then choose a 30-minute time slot.
- Only future time slots are shown (past slots are hidden)
- Slots with a 15-minute buffer are hidden to prevent last-minute bookings with insufficient notice
- Times are shown in your local timezone
Booking Terms
Before you can complete the booking, you must confirm you have read and agree to the Booking Terms & Conditions. These cover the £15 fee, the consultation process, and what happens next.
The booking terms are shown as an inline checkbox on the payment page - you must tick it before proceeding.
Payment
The £15 consultation fee is paid via Stripe at the time of booking. This fee is:
- Non-refundable once the consultation has taken place
- Refundable if the lawyer cancels the consultation
- A platform service fee (not a lawyer fee - it covers video, transcription, and AI scope generation)
The Day of Your Consultation
15 minutes before: You receive an email reminder with a link to join the consultation room.
At the start time: Go to Client Portal → My Consultations → Join. You are taken to the video room.
Recording Consent
Before the recording starts, you will see a consent screen:
"By clicking below, you consent to this consultation being recorded and transcribed for the purpose of generating your AI scope report."
You must click I Consent to proceed. This consent is required by UK law. The recording does not start until both you and the lawyer have consented.
You can decline consent. If you decline, the call proceeds without recording. The lawyer may still be able to generate a scope from notes, but it will be less accurate.
During the Consultation
The consultation takes place in an embedded video room. You will see:
- Your video (camera on or off - your choice)
- The lawyer's video
- A chat panel (for sending text messages during the call)
- A file sharing panel (to send documents to your lawyer during the call)
The 30-minute auto-cutoff means the call ends automatically at 30 minutes. This is a platform rule - if you need more time, you can book another consultation.
After the Consultation
After the call ends, your lawyer will choose one of three actions:
| Lawyer's Choice | What Happens to You |
|---|---|
| Generate AI Scope | You wait while your lawyer reviews the AI-generated scope (up to 24 hours) |
| Create Manual Quotation | Your lawyer sends you a hand-written quote (no AI) |
| Close as Consultation Only | No scope is generated - you received advice, no matter follows |
You will see: "Your lawyer is preparing your scope report." in your portal while the review is in progress.
If Your Lawyer Cancels
If your lawyer cancels a booked consultation:
- You receive an email notification with the reason
- The £15 booking fee is automatically refunded to your card (or a credit is restored if you used a consultation credit)
- You can book another consultation with the same or a different lawyer
Your Jurisdiction and Terms
The Terms & Conditions that apply to your consultation depend on your location:
- UK clients: UK Client Terms & Conditions
- US clients: US Client Terms & Conditions
- International clients: International Client Terms & Conditions
