Step 6: Approve Milestones
Getting Notified
When your lawyer submits a milestone, you receive an email and in-portal notification: "[Milestone Name] has been submitted for your review."
Go to Client Portal → My Orders → [Order] → Milestones.
Reviewing the Milestone
Click on the submitted milestone to see:
- The description of what was delivered
- Any documents uploaded by your lawyer (click to download)
- The milestone amount that will be released on approval
Read the description, review the documents, and check the work against what was agreed in the scope.
Approving
If you are satisfied, click Approve. The milestone funds are released to your lawyer within 2–7 business days.
Disputing
If you are not satisfied:
- Click Dispute
- Write a clear description of the problem
- Attach any supporting documents if relevant
- Click Submit Dispute
The milestone funds are frozen. An eSolicitors admin will contact both you and your lawyer. The dispute is resolved within 5 business days.
If You Do Not Respond
If you do not approve or dispute within 14 days, the funds are automatically released to the lawyer. You receive reminder emails at 7 days and 12 days.
If you need more time (e.g., due to illness), message your lawyer immediately to discuss.
After All Milestones Are Complete
When the final milestone is approved or auto-released, your matter is complete. You will be invited to:
- Leave a review for your lawyer
- Download all documents from your portal
- Start a new matter if needed
Congratulations - your legal matter is resolved.
