Step 6: Manage Orders
Where to Find Your Orders
Lawyer Portal → My Orders
Each order shows the matter reference, client name, total value, escrow status, and milestone progress.
Submitting a Milestone
When you complete a piece of work:
- Go to My Orders → [Order] → Milestones
- Find the milestone to submit
- Click Submit Milestone
- Add a description of what you delivered
- Upload any relevant documents
- Click Submit for Client Review
The client has 14 days to review. If they do not respond, funds auto-release.
Milestone Deadlines
Each milestone has a due date set in the scope. If you need more time:
- Go to the milestone
- Click Request Extension
- Enter the number of additional days needed and the reason
- The client must approve
Maximum: 5 extensions per milestone, 14 days total, 7 days per request.
Communicating with Clients
All client communication must go through the platform messaging system:
Lawyer Portal → Messages → [Client Thread]
Do not give clients your direct email or phone number until contact details are released after Proceed with Scoping.
Logging Hours (Hourly and Retainer Milestones)
For hourly block or retainer drawdown milestones:
- Go to the milestone
- Click Log Hours
- Enter hours worked and a description
- The running total updates automatically
Adding a Disbursement
If you incur an out-of-pocket expense for the client:
- Go to My Orders → [Order] → Disbursements
- Click Add Disbursement
- Enter description, amount, and category
- Upload a receipt
- Send to client for approval
The client approves, then pays the disbursement directly via Stripe. Do not pay a disbursement and then seek reimbursement - wait for client approval first.
