eSolicitors for International Lawyers

eSolicitors is a global platform. If you are a qualified lawyer practising outside the UK and the United States, you can join under the International Lawyer Terms — provided your country is not on the restricted list and your regulatory body is recognised on the platform.

Applicable Terms

International lawyers use the International Lawyer Terms and Conditions — always check the current version at esolicitors.com/terms.

Who Qualifies

You qualify as an international lawyer if:

  • You are admitted to practise law in any country not listed as restricted
  • Your admission was granted by a recognised regulatory or professional body
  • You are in good standing with your regulatory body
  • You are not under suspension or conditions preventing practice

See Accepted Countries and Jurisdictions for the full list of accepted countries and any restrictions.

Verification

All international lawyers complete manual document review:

  1. Practicing certificate or equivalent (current year)
  2. Government-issued photo ID (passport preferred)
  3. Proof of regulatory body membership (registration number)
  4. Proof of address (bank statement, utility bill, less than 3 months old)

Review takes 2-5 business days. Documents should be uploaded in English or with a certified English translation.

Currency and Payments

All fees on eSolicitors are in GBP (£). The platform does not currently support multi-currency pricing.

For international lawyers:

  • Clients are charged in GBP
  • Stripe Convert may apply if your bank account is in a different currency (exchange rate applied by Stripe)
  • Stripe Connect availability varies by country — see Stripe's supported countries list to confirm your country is supported before applying

Language

The platform currently operates in English only. All scope documents, client communications, and service listings must be in English.

Cross-Border Practice

If you advise clients in jurisdictions other than your home country (for example, an Australian lawyer advising on international contracts), you must:

  • Disclose the jurisdiction limitation in your service listing
  • Note the advising jurisdiction in each scope document
  • Comply with any host-country rules on foreign lawyer practice

International lawyers on eSolicitors most frequently list services in:

  • International commercial contracts
  • Cross-border M&A
  • International arbitration (ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL)
  • Trade and import/export compliance
  • International IP (WIPO, PCT applications)
  • Expat and international family law
  • Foreign investment and regulatory compliance
